What is PLUR? What does it stand for? What significance does the acronym have on the rave community?

PLUR stands for: Peace, Love, Unity and Respect.

We use a series of hand signs, and PLUR when exchanging kandi – beaded bracelets and cuffs that we make and trade with other ravers. Those that make and trade kandi are known as kandi kids. Trading kandi is a great way to meet new people in the rave community, and promotes inclusion, sharing PLUR and good vibes with others. It’s also fun to spend time creating kandi, making each piece unique and special, and then getting to share and give what you’ve made to other people. Raving is very much about the community and having a great experience, which is what PLUR is all about.

The PLUR community believes in respecting everyone and banding together, helping one another because that’s simply what a caring person does. They try to spread (and promote) peace and love, caring and understanding, respect and community.
